GALLERY. Giants sailing in Paris. And Jacques Brel sings…

And a great song to heard while you look the pictures. This is the Paris we love!

Every year, at the start of December, the Nautic Paris Boat Show takes place, constituting an unmissable event for the entire marine leisure community. For nine whole days, the Porte de Versailles is transformed into the largest indoor port in France; and this enables more than 800 exhibitors to present their products and know-how to enthusiastic visitors, first-time purchasers, and practicing and potential boaters.

About Jacques Brel

Jacques Romain Georges Brelย was aย Belgianย singer, songwriter, actor and director who composed and performed literate, thoughtful, and theatrical songs that generated a large, devoted followingโ€”initially inย Belgium andย France, later throughout the world. He is considered a master of the modernย chanson. Although he recorded most of his songs in French and occasionally in Dutch, he became an influence on English-speaking songwriters and performers, such asย Scott Walker,ย David Bowie,ย Alex Harvey,ย Marc Almond,ย Neil Hannon, andย Rod McKuen. English translations of his songs were recorded by many performers, including Bowie, Walker,ย Ray Charles,ย Judy Collins,ย John Denver, Theย Kingston Trio,ย Nina Simone,ย Shirley Bassey,ย James Dean Bradfield,ย Frank Sinatra, andย Andy Williams.

Brel was a successful actor, appearing in 10 films. He directed two films, one of which,ย Le Far West, was nominated for theย Palme d’Orย at theย Cannes Film Festivalย in 1973.ย Having sold over 25 million records worldwide, Brel is the thirdย best-selling Belgian recording artistย of all time. Brel married Thรฉrรจse “Miche” Michielsen in 1950, and the couple had three children. He also had a romantic relationship with actress and dancer Maddly Bamy from 1972 until his death in 1978.
