The new Grand Soleil Plus 65 Performance is about to make its first appearance at the 2025 Palma International Boat Show. This sailing yacht is built for speed and control, while still offering comfort on board. It follows the launch of the Long Cruise version and adds a sportier style to the line.
Clear focus on performance
The Grand Soleil Plus 65 Performance stands out right away for its low, clean deckhouse. This gives it a fast and modern look. The project brings together well-known names from Italy: naval work by Matteo Polli, structure by Marco Lostuzzi, and layout and design by Nauta Design.
“The 65-footer is the result of a totally Made-in-Italy design process that brings together a team of professionals representing Italian excellence in the yachting sector,” says Franco Corazza. “That means designer and ORC champion Matteo Polli for the naval architecture, Marco Lostuzzi for the structural design and Nauta Design for the general layout as well as the deck and interior design.”
Franco Corazza, who has a long racing background, leads the project and helps make sure the design meets the needs of owners who want a fast and comfortable yacht.
What “Plus” means
In the Grand Soleil line, “Plus” doesn’t only mean a larger size — it also means more care and attention. Every boat in this range is built at the shipyard in Italy. That means the team controls the full building process, including the hull, which is made with top-quality materials.
Each owner works with a dedicated team from the start. The goal is to meet personal needs and offer a clear and helpful support service throughout the life of the boat.
Built with care for the sea
Like all Grand Soleil boats, the 65 Performance is made with the environment in mind. The wood comes from sustainable sources. Glass is chosen to help with insulation. Laminates use linen and eco-friendly resins. Paints are water-based, and solar panels help provide clean energy.
Hull and sail plan
Matteo Polli designed the hull based on the Grand Soleil Plus 72, making adjustments for a smaller size. It keeps a sharp bow and low drag, helping the boat move well even in light wind. The shape also gives good balance, no matter how the inside is arranged.
“The hull form, for example, maintains the pronounced V in the bow and low wetted surface of the Grand Soleil Plus 72 for less resistance, greater dynamic stability when heeling and better performance in light airs,” says Matteo Polli.
The mast is placed further back than usual. This helps increase the front sail area and makes the sail plan more efficient. The jib is self-tacking, so it’s easy to sail even with just two people. The boat is made to handle different weather and sea conditions with less effort.
Steering and keel choices
The Grand Soleil Plus 65 Performance comes with one rudder blade and a T-shaped keel. This gives good handling and helps with control while sailing or motoring. Owners can choose between three draft options: 3.5m, 3m, or a telescopic version.
Layout above and below deck
The deck and inside spaces were designed with Nauta Design to make the most of the available room. Every detail was planned for ease of use, comfort, and smart storage.
The deckhouse is low and sleek. The equipment is simple to use, making the boat suitable for both skilled and newer sailors.
Inside, there is plenty of space. The saloon is bright and comfortable, and the owner’s cabin is roomy and quiet. The galley is moved toward the back compared to the Long Cruise version, giving more space to the central living area. Guest cabins are kept separate from crew areas to improve privacy. The engine room is placed just behind the engines, following standard layout rules.
