YYachts Introduces the Y6: A New 64-Foot Sailing Yacht Designed for Complete Privacy

YYachts has announced the development of a new sailing yacht that expands its existing portfolio while responding to a growing demand for single-handed cruising. The upcoming Y6, a 64-foot model currently in the final stages of design by American naval architect Bill Tripp, is the German shipyardโ€™s first yacht conceived for fully private operation without a professional crew on board.

Founded in 2015, YYachts has steadily built a presence in the performance cruising segment, with a product line that includes the Y7 (22 meters), Y8 (24 meters), Y9 (27 meters), and a custom division. The Y7, known for its ease of handling with minimal crew, has become the yardโ€™s most delivered model, with over 20 units sailing globally. Altogether, the company has delivered nearly 50 yachts to date.

The Y6 will serve as the new entry point into the YYachts lineup, maintaining the brandโ€™s philosophy of simplified, performance-oriented sailing. Built in carbon epoxy, the 64-footer is engineered for light displacement and structural integrity, while also eliminating interior odor emissions often associated with alternative materials. The yacht is intended as a capable world cruiser, allowing the helmsman to manage all sailing functions directly from the cockpit.

YYachts Managing Director Tijl Hetterschijt noted that the Y6 is being developed in response to specific client requests. โ€œFor some owners, the ability to sail independently and enjoy time on board with only family or close friends is a key priority,โ€ Hetterschijt stated. โ€œThe Y6 delivers that experience without compromising on performance or quality.โ€

While the yacht is tailored for solo sailing, the Y6 will also be available with an ORC-optimized racing package, making it a viable platform for competitive owners.

Below deck, the Y6 will offer a range of configurations, with options for three or four cabins, and several versions of the master suite to meet individual preferences. Interior design is led by Danish designer David Thulstrup and his studio, known for a clean, contemporary aesthetic rooted in Scandinavian tradition. The yacht will reflect Thulstrupโ€™s holistic design approach, though owners will be able to tailor interiors to their specific tastes.

The first two units of the Y6 are scheduled for delivery in spring 2026. Further details will be revealed at the upcoming Palma International Boat Show, beginning April 30.
