Following the success of the Windelo 50 and its many nominations, the French yard announced today the launch of its 2nd model (and flagship), a Windelo 54 Yachting. This model is the result of a collaboration between the design team of Christophe Barreau and Frederic Neuman. The Yachting version of the Windelo 54 (available in 3 versions, Adventure, Sport, and Yachting) is the more luxurious option, fitted out with top-end deck hardware and instruments, all with the aim of providing a yacht that is fast, comfortable, luxurious, and easily handled by a small crew.
About the Windelo 54 Yachting
The Windelo 54 Yachting is 16.24 m long (54 ft) and weighs 12.8 metric tonnes offering exceptional comfort to performance ratio. It has very slim hulls, pronounced inverted bows, and a nacelle positioned further aft, helping it cut through the sea and improving performance by 10% in relation to the Windelo 50. When it comes to life aboard, the size of the Windelo 54 allows for a considerable increase in nacelle space, making it even more ergonomic and comfortable.
Christophe Barreau explains: “We felt the team very open to really innovative solutions in terms of optimising space and this allowed us to work on a really original concept which makes the most of the catamaran’s strengths. The result is a vast, single, seamless space combining a saloon, a cockpit and a galley, with a 360 ° view of the sea, and with tilt-up door and sliding doors and windows opening fully to the outside.”
The team perfected an eco-friendly sandwich composite from basalt and PET foam, reducing the environmental footprint of the construction process by 47%.
On the sailing side, this performance bluewater cruiser is fitted with two 20 kW electric motors and a 1,120 Ah battery bank, which means you can sail for 4 hours a day using nothing but electric power. Primarily recharged by green energy (hydrogeneration, up to 4,839 W of solar panels, and wind generators on option), the Windelo 54 offers silent ecological sailing, even on motor, and full autonomy for navigation instruments and equipment contributing to your comfort on board.
The size of the floats also means larger cabins (with new features) and larger windows to make the most of your surroundings. The forepeaks are also bigger, providing storage spaces and a larger skipper cabin. The Windelo catamaran’s Yachting version offers owners a wider range of customizations. It is also the most luxurious version with top-quality materials and equipment, as well as carefully detailed trims.
This new eco-friendly catamaran model will be World Premiered at the 2022 La Grande Motte International Multihull Show. The first Windelo 54 Yachting, named Zig Zag, will be based in Hyères (South of France) for the 2022 season and will have a skippered charter program.
