ICE66ST: The Latest High-Performance Evolution from ICE Yachts

ICE Yachts has introduced the ICE66ST, a performance-oriented version of the well-known ICE66. This model joins the ST range alongside the ICE53ST, offering a yacht designed for speed, efficiency, and comfort without excesses.

Construction and Technical Features

The ICE66ST is built entirely of carbon, both for the hull and the deck. This approach reduces the overall weight by approximately 4 tons compared to the standard version, positively impacting maneuverability and overall performance. The extended bowsprit and hydrodynamic appendages are optimized for sailing both upwind and downwind.

The lamination process involves the use of epoxy resin and quadriaxial and unidirectional carbon fibers, reinforced at critical points to ensure solidity and stiffness. The custom keel is made of Weldox700 steel with a CNC-machined bulb, designed through CFD studies to optimize stability and speed.

ICE66ST: Performance and Sailing

The high-modulus carbon mast and deck equipment are designed to meet the needs of those seeking high performance both in racing and during long-distance cruising. The sail configuration and weight reduction provide good responsiveness even in demanding conditions, while the carbon rudder improves control precision, even at higher angles of heel.

Interiors and Space Management

The interiors of the ICE66ST are designed to maintain a balance between performance and livability. Weights are distributed with care to enhance overall stability. The furnishings, made from lightweight composite materials, contribute to weight reduction without compromising finish quality.

Our Opinion

The ICE66ST appears to be a well-thought-out project aimed at sailors looking for a high-performance yacht, featuring advanced construction solutions and good versatility. Designed to perform well in racing and for long-distance cruising, it offers an interesting balance between performance and comfort.
