All about the Beneteau First 18 SE’s Gennaker System. VIDEO

The French Beneteau First 18 SE is a modern and fun gateway to keel-boat sailing. Wide, flat and stable hull; ballasted swinging keel; gennaker snuffer system; furling jib and minimised deck controls all enable an easy-to-handle and exciting planing and sailing experience. Being easily trailable and dismantled, she would fulfil racing ambitions in international one-design class as well as adventurous sea-camping.

The Beneteau First 18 SE equipped with a system that makes it easier to use the boat’s asymmetrical spinnaker, especially when hoisting or dumping: the sail is stored flush in a spinnaker snuffer, linked to a single rope that acts both as a halyard and a dumping line. Before setting up the sail, place the boat so it is running downwind, preferably on a starboard tack and make sure that there are no objects that could damage the spinnaker when it goes into the snuffer. Happy sailing!

She can be easily  sailed by a crew from 1 to 3 persons thanks to the large and clean cockpit, the furling jib, the gennaker snuffer system, high boom and a mast without a backstay, which allows for a bigger square-top mainsail.

A retractable keel, removable rudders blades and a light carbon mast make First 18 SE truly trailable and slip-launchable, which will enable you to discover new places, attend international events and meet new sailors.

First 18 SE is one of the safest in her category. Insumbersibility chambers make her unsinkable, a swinging keel prevents structural damage in case of grounding and twin rudders give you complete control for safe downwind planing.

The One Design racing calendar comprises of fully crewed windward-leeward races to adventurous long-distance double-handed or solo challenges. Whichever you choose, you can count on the friendly community of like-minded sailors.
