The collaboration between YYachts and designers Bill Tripp and Andrew Winch has once again borne fruit with the recent delivery of a bespoke YYachts Y9 model. Commissioned by a discerning European client, the new unit stands among the largest sailing yachts ever to grace German waters.
The YYachts Y9 distinguishes itself with a commanding deckhouse design, offering an interior suffused with natural light. Within the yacht’s spacious saloon, elevated dining quarters afford panoramic vistas of the surrounding seascape, while the lower level beckons with a tastefully appointed lounge area, replete with refined furnishings. Forward lies the owner’s sanctuary, accessed via a well-appointed dressing room and boasting a suite replete with bespoke amenities, including a plush sofa, vanity, and expansive en suite bathroom. The yacht’s layout is thoughtfully optimized to cater to the comfort and enjoyment of families and friends embarking on extended maritime adventures.
The interior design, conceived by Winch Design, epitomizes a minimalist ethos, characterized by an open-plan layout and an abundance of natural light. Drawing inspiration from the coastal charm of the U.S. East Coast and mid-century Scandinavian design principles, the ambiance exudes an air of understated elegance, accentuated by supple leather and light oak wood finishes.
In its conception, the YYachts Y9 was engineered to deliver competitive performance on the regatta circuit without compromising on comfort during leisurely sails. This delicate balance is achieved through YYachts’ unwavering commitment to weight-saving measures, with carbon utilized extensively in the construction of the hull, deck, internal structure, and rigging. Furthermore, the yacht’s sophisticated configuration enables effortless operation by a minimal crew complement, aided by thrusters that facilitate maneuvering in confined marina spaces.
Michael Schmidt, founder of YYachts, says: “This new Y9 has been ordered by a repeat customer which makes us proud as it shows that our approach is well received as the owner is not the first one ordering a second YYacht. We are currently looking at a very healthy orderbook and getting requests from around the globe.”
