The new Baltic 117 is an advanced composite 35.8m Custom Classic sloop from the board of renowned Dutch designers Dykstra Naval Architects. The launch will be in summer 2021.

She has distinctive pilot cutter-style features, including a straight stem, bowsprit, counter stern and deep bulwarks, but a very modern approach to emissions and the environment. There will be a notable emphasis on efficiency with features such as ‘smart’ cabins, designed to automatically minimise power consumption when unoccupied, and air conditioning energy waste re-cycled to heat water.

With an electric propulsion system powered by a lithium ion battery bank this global cruising yacht will be able to operate in ‘silent’ mode for long periods.

Dykstra Naval Architects describe the yacht as ‘a pilot cutter with timeless elegance’. deVosdeVries design is styling the ‘light and contemporary’ interior using stained oak, dark bog oak trims and ‘industrial chic hardware’.

Side boarding ladders, such as the one being installed aboard the new Baltic 117 Custom, are a convenient method of easy and safe transfer from a tender. They can be deployed hydraulically at the touch of a button and stowed inside the hull, with the hull closure leaving the topsides perfectly fair. A side ladder requires less internal hull space for stowage than a transom ladder. Features include teak finished steps, a swimming and boarding ladder at the foot and a fresh water shower at deck level. Folding steps and safety rails are deployed completely automatically, making operation fast and straightforward.
