We received a lot of answers to our #mondayquiz “Can you name this sailboat concept?”. The correct answer was… Grand Soleil 52 LC! Design, performance and quality made in Italy characterize the new Grand Soleil 52LC, designed by Marco Lostuzzi and Nauta Design.
Grand Soleil 52 LC, hull and deck
The LC hull shape, designed by Marco Lostuzzi, guarantees stability thanks to the hull volume. Tanks and batteries are located amidships to lower the centre of gravity and together with a well- proportioned sail plan, the stability and safety are optimized while keeping a high-performance sailing standard.
Organizers and winches are located near the helmsman for easy handling when sailing with a reduced crew (or also single handed). All lines are led below deck to the helm station to provide a “string free” cockpit.
Sport Version vs Cruiser version
The Sport version of the Grand Soleil 52 LC does not include the rollbar, replaced by a mainsail sheet fixed point in the cockpit; the one meter and forty cm taller mast gives to the boat more than 12 sqm of sail area. In the Cruiser version you can find wire rigging, a self-tacking jib and some benches at stern. On the contrary, in the Sport version you can find rod rigging, jib’s tracks and no benches.
In the Sport version, the stern platform is flush with the cockpit, whereas in the Cruiser one is 20 cm higher. At bow, you can find the furler on deck in the version with the rollbar, while on the sport version the furler is flush deck.
The interiors: pure Italian style
Designed by Nauta Design, the GS52 LC interior layout offers three double cabins with the possibility to have private heads for each one. The master cabin has 2 layouts; a classic bed towards bow or a side bed with a bigger head.
The galley and dinette are wide and comfortable to use also during sailing and provide different setup. The Grand Soleil 52 LC offers also a sail locker/crew cabin and a tender garage. The day head can be also transferred into a 4th cabin on request.
