Sailing Nandji, Ep 63 – Squall Sailing and pirate scare Solomon Islands

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, with our 54 extra litres of diesel we got from selling rum to the police of Nendo island, we depart the Santa Cruz group of islands and head to Honiara where we are due to collect our dog Marley.

Sailing on schedule is never a good idea, as it creates extra stress and pressure. With little wind for days and limited fuel, we jump from squall to squall, utilising the wind from each weather system. With long patches of no wind then a head wind for 4 days, we pound our way up the Indispensable straight towards Honiara. Arriving in the nick of time with plenty of diesel to spare!
