CNB presents the new CNB 66 at Cannes Yachting Festival 2017

Yesterday the French yard CNB officially revealed at Cannes Yachting Festival the new CNB 66, designed by Philippe Brand, Jean-Marc Piaton and Rafael Bonnet.

The hull of the CNB 66 was designed with speed through the water as a priority, while retaining the offshore seakeeping qualities essential for long cruises and short-handed sailing. The vertical stem, aft chine, twin rudders and bowsprit provide a high level of performance.

“The CNB 66 was designed for freedom in comfort and privacy. We designed the hull lines with the triple objective of increasing the volume, performance and seaworthiness. The design features such as the beam, the aft chine, the vertical stem… are the ingredients that enable achievement of this optimum. The deck is organised to facilitate operations, relaxation, protection of guests and access to the sea. Yes, the 66 will sail fast and far in complete safety. With the design of the CNB 66, we wanted to eliminate constraints and give the word freedom a nautical definition…”  Philippe Briand

The classic CNB cockpit

Since the success of the CNB 76 (21 boats built since 2014), the organisation layout with a flush cockpit, separating the manoeuvring zone from the recreation area, as well as an asymmetric access, enabling the extension of the relaxation space, have become a key features of a CNB yacht. In order to innovate the design, in terms of circulation, the yard has decreased the difference in level between the cockpit and the main foredeck, in order to facilitate flow of movement. A few centimetres difference between the cockpit and the catwalk, enable easy circulation.

Cabins comfort

The standard version of the CNB 66 has 4 cabins, including an owner’s suite. The latter has an off-centre queen-size island bed to provide greater privacy: the bed is not visible from the aft end of the boat when the cabin door is open. She has a bathroom and a desk. The VIP cabins are not neglected. They have double or bunk beds and it is possible to convert the double beds into 2 singles.

“The CNB 66 is first and foremost a CNB, from which she takes the name, the heritage and the style, a blend of tradition and modernity. She fits between the legendary Bordeaux 60 and the CNB 76. In terms of design, we naturally wanted to make her the little sister of the 76, from which she adopts the general, seaworthy, elegant and contemporary style that we wish to give to this new CNB generation. And from the Bordeaux 60 she inherits the intimate, warm and friendly features, with a large square table, her vast adaptable sofa, and her open galley. But the 66 is different, she is unique: a new era for CNB yacht builders.” Jean-Marc Piaton and Rafael Bonnet
