Cauta Yacht Concept: is this the future of superyacht?

The winner of the Young Designer of the Year Award 2015, Timur Bozca, presented his super sailing Cauta yacht concept – a very challenging, dynamic, futuristic and unique 55-metre high performance world cruiser.

The Cauta yacht concept is a futuristic high-performance cruiser. Visually inspired by the albatross, the diesel-electric yacht is sleek and speedy. Two self-standing and rotating masts support 10 sails each; both masts are fused into the yacht’s silver carbon-fiber hull.AdTech Ad

Accommodating up to 10 guests and eight crew members, the 180-foot yacht houses a dining area, a cockpit, a lounge, and sleeping quarters. Slate gray walls and OLED technology lend the interiors a space-ship-like aesthetic. The spacious owner’s stateroom includes a living area and a bathroom with a rain shower system. See-through floor panels allow guests to glimpse the ocean below. The aft cockpit can even be transformed into a wading pool so children can have a place to play in case of inclement weather.

Cauta yacht is a diesel-electric sailing yacht and powered via an innovative shaft and feathering prop. with all three Caterpillar C12.9 gensets in operation, the yacht runs through a Siemens electric engine to increase power efficiency, reduce consumption noise and vibration.

Bozca won Boat International Media and Oceanco’s Young Designer of the Year in 2015 for the innovative design.
