5 Great Sailing Destinations in Europe for this Summer 2016

When it comes to Sailing, people residing in Europe are truly blessed. In only a few hours by plane, sailing enthusiasts can reach a great variety of different beautiful sailing destinations in Europe.

It is a veritable treasure cove and without further ado, here are our 5 favorite sailing destinations in Europe.

Amalfi Coast, Italy

Combining the best of both worlds, Italy boasts a beautiful countryside with Tuscan cypress trees as well as a stunning coastline known as the Amalfi coast. As you sail along the coast, you can see these great mountains lining the coast itself and harboring small towns all along its length. Stopping at any of them is a good idea to enjoy the delicious, genuine Italian cuisine, wine and hospitality.

Then when you depart to such a view with a full belly, the wind in your face and the wheel in your hand, sailing has never been so fulfilling!

The Turkish Riviera

The Turkish Riviera is a gem that may not be as well explored a destination by independent sailors as the other entries on this list, yet by no means any less beautiful. The Riviera spans across Antalya, Bodrum, Cesme and many more places.

Along with the ideal weather come the lovely beaches of Marmaris and a coastline with forest-covered hills stretching out as far as the eye can see. The area has a great history spanning back to the days of the Roman Empire. Mark Antony picked it as “the most beautiful wedding gift” for Cleopatra.

Saint Malo (France)

Sailing down the Bretagne, you will see huge bluffs and cliffs along the coast diving directly into the coast with the occasional small castle perched like a bird on the coastline.

A must see along the Bretagne in France is St. Malo. This town has retained a level of authenticity and character rarely seen, with a strong sense of culture and pride. The food here is fantastic, with the best oysters you will every try! For desert, don’t miss out on the crepes!

Islands in Croatia

The sheer diversity of these islands in terms of landscape and populace is impressive. Certain islands like Pag and Hvar are populated by tourists and locals whereas others are isolated and even have a “sleeping ban” on them.

The Adriatic sea is truly unique in its beauty and is definitely worth a sailing trip.

Cyclades Islands, Greece

These islands span across the Mediterranean sea near Athens and are staggeringly beautiful. The sun reflects off of the turquoise waters deepening their already gorgeous colors.

Sailing from island to island, diving off of the boat and swimming to the shore, stopping for some fresh seafood and a bit of discovery is an experience you will never forget and cherish forever. Exploring Islands on land like Crete in a rental car from e-mietwagenkreta would also be an experience you will never forget!

Famous islands here include Mykonos, Santorini and Corfu.
